Athlete of the Month - St. Thomas More
Maddie is a grade 11 student who has been part of the senior girl’s volleyball team since grade 9, and has proven to be a talented, committed, and uplifting member of the team. She travelled to South Korea as part of the International Children’s Games with Team Hamilton, where 50 countries and 3000 teams are involved. She has played rep for Mountain Volleyball Club for the past few years where she led her team to a 6th place overall standing in provincials. Although it saddens her, she has recently decided to let go of rep volleyball so that she can focus on her education as she is intending on McMaster for nursing. She demonstrates true catholicity on and off the court. As a captain, she is always positive with her teammates and shows sportsmanship with opposing teams. She is rarely absent from a practice or game, and always brings forth a hard-working attitude. She encourages her team-mates to give their best effort when they are winning as well as in situations when they are down. Furthermore, she fights through injuries day in and day out because she loves the sport and does not want to let down her team. In conclusion, Maddie Rowe is an excellent student-athlete and deserves the recognition as the athlete of the month for St. Thomas More.
