Athlete of the Month - St. Thomas More CSS
At St. Thomas More, the athlete of the month for May is a student who represents our school not only athletically, but also spiritually and academically. Emilie Calabrese is a true role model in sport as she excels at all of the above not only on the court and field, but in everyday life. She has obtained a 96% overall average in the first semester of Grade 9 at an academic level, achieving a 98% in Gr.10 math during that time, and is continuing her hard work ethic in order to maintain a 96% overall average for her Grade 9 year. This will support her goal to enter McMaster university to study to be a doctor or engineer. Emilie attends mass with her family regularly and displays strong Catholic values in all that she does. She takes part in Halloween for Hunger, and the Athletic Council giving her time and energy even though she has little for herself. This year, Emilie was a starter for junior basketball, a captain for midget volleyball and junior soccer, and also played varsity indoor soccer and badminton. She is a leader through her hard-work and commitment, and she shines through her skill and intelligence for the game. But even with these much admired qualities she shows humility, is a team-player, and demonstrates respect for everyone involved in the game. Congratulations to Emilie for being chosen and well deserved athlete of the month.
